Macarthur Disability Services (MDS) is a dynamic and innovative non-profit community organisation based in the Macarthur Region and operates in the South West Sydney and the Southern Highlands.

MDS has developed and provides many innovative services for people with a disability, people with a mental illness, the aged, families and carers over the past thirty years. We actively promote and support accessible sports including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby league, and NSW rugby league for people with a physical disability and a range of other healthy sports and activities. Distraining is the training arm of MDS providing both short courses and certificate and diploma qualifications.

Who We Help

We provide programs to people with a wide range of disabilities. This includes intellectual, physical, sensory, neurological and psychiatric disabilities. We also have specific programs to support carers. MDS assists over 1,000 children and adults with disabilities, their families and carers every week.

We can help families who are experiencing disruptions due to challenging behaviour, help people through the maze of services by helping them make appropriate referrals and advocate for people when needed.

What We Do

MDS provides a range of services, activities, and connections and designs each service to the individual person’s needs. This ability to provide an individualised program is based on listening to our customer requests, desires and needs, to ensure that MDS better meets each person’s goals.

Our day programs provide for a wide range of ages and varying support needs including people who are medically frail and programs for healthy ageing.

Children’s services include recreation programs, after school care and holiday programs. MDS works predominately with children with challenging behaviour providing great opportunities for community inclusion.

Our Complete Property Service employs people with a mental illness. The service provides lawn mowing, rubbish removal and performs cleaning and general property maintenance. This program in conjunction with our training and community support services allows people with a mental illness to re-enter the community and workforce.

Macarthur Personnel with offices in Liverpool, Campbelltown and Bowral, assists people with a disability to find satisfying and long term employment. We provide ongoing on-the-job support to the employer and employee to maximise success.

MDS also provides a range of services to carers, family members and the community, including an information and referral service, a resource centre, Aboriginal carer, mental health carer and young carer services.
